#PS4 QUICK MENU PATCH#
In readiness for the release of the PS4 Pro on November 10th, the patch includes PS4 Pro-exclusive features that allow it to output high-res content. It's also been expanded with several new items, including an enhanced Music section not present in the beta that allows you to discover, play and control Spotify without needing to open the app. The Quick Menu is now more customisable and easier to access, without the need to leave your game. This also comes alongside a number of big changes to the system's Library, with the addition of a new Purchased tab. Update 4.0 sees the long-awaited addition of Folders to the PS4's Content Launcher and Library, finally giving you the ability to organise and arrange your games and apps in the one place for easy access.
#PS4 QUICK MENU FULL#
We've highlighted some of the biggest changes below, and you can find the full list as well as more details on the system update over at the US Playsation Blog. Undoubtedly a welcome addition for anyone swapping out their PS4 for a Slim or a Pro, particularly given the PlayStation Network's tumultuous history of slow download speeds. These include a revamped Quick Menu, a redesign of the What's New and Content Info screen, as well as the ability to transfer data between PS4 systems via a wired LAN connection. Of interest to most is the addition of High Dynamic Range (HDR) functionality to all Playstation 4 consoles, which came as somewhat of a surprise announcement last week with many expecting the advanced display functionality to be a PS4 Pro exclusive.Įlsewhere, and the update also boasts a number of usability improvements that were detailed during the beta in August. The first update since the unveiling of the PS4 Pro at Sony's Playstation Meeting, the new firmware features a number of key updates. The latest firmware update for Sony's PlayStation 4 is set to go live on September 13. I have thought that for a while. The long-awaited 'Shingen' update brings High Dynamic Range to the masses. I get the impression Sony don't consider trophies to be a priority. The Interaction Menu on the Xbox One and Xbox Series XS be. As far as I know they have never done any promotional stuff, like giving lifetime Plus to the guy with the most Plats. The Interaction Menu on both PS4 and PS5 can be accessed by pressing and holding the Touchpad.
I would like to see trophies given more prominence in general by Sony. On PS4, you can only see whether the trophy has been unlocked or not - there is nothing that shows progression towards a particular trophy. I would love to see something similar implemented on PS4. It also shows a percentage that indicates how close you are to unlocking each achievement in a game. On the Xbox One, there is an option to have an overlay appear on screen which shows achievement progress while you are playing a game. It makes the process take a lot more time than it should.
I find it cumbersome that whenever you want to check trophy information while playing a game, you have to exit out of the game, then scroll all the way to the right on the UI, then scroll all the way down the list of trophies until you find what you are searching for. It has a bunch of stuff that I either never or rarely use (Accessibility, Communities, Share Play, Favourite Groups), but doesn't include the one thing I would use constantly - Trophies. I have been wondering for a while why the Quick Menu, which shows up when you press the PS button on the DS4, doesn't have Trophies included list of menu items.
